Audio-Lingual Method,,,just an opinion !!!

  1. IMG_02931. The Understandings of Audio-lingual Method

The origin of Audio-lingual Method was the Army Method or the Informant Method which begun in a program called Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP). The method was begun for the first time in The United States with the purpose to make the soldiers, who would be sent to several countries in World-War II, could speak as the natives from the countries to make them easy to communicate with the natives. The soldiers were taught by the native speaker, called informant, as the teacher who acted as the model of the target language. The process of teaching and learning was using the target language as much as possible.

The Army Specialized Training Program created intensive programs based on the techniques Leonard Bloomfield and other linguists devised for Native American languages, where students interacted intensively with native speakers and a linguist in guided conversations designed to decode its basic grammar and learn the vocabulary. This “informant method” had great success with its small class sizes and motivated learners.[1] (lebih…)

Let me open a book to answer your questions !

IMG_97571. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Parents are the best teachers. In a modern society, people always face the dilemma to choose whether parents or other people are the best teachers. This problem is the much-debated one in that it affects everyone in their daily lives. As far as I am concerned, I think that parents are the best teachers because of their love and lifetime teaching. In the following discussion, I would like to present evidence to support my point of view.

On the one hand, the first argument that can be presented to develop my position is that parents love us whole-heartedly. For example, from time to time, they have to give up their own time, pleasure, and even their dreams in order to fulfill our needs.

Moreover, most parents do not expect their children to thank to their invaluable contributions but rather look forward to a sagacious and happy life for their children to enjoy. In short, there is no better example than this to illustrate the strength of our parents’ teaching. (lebih…)

What techniques can I use to control my nerves?

tips-wawancara-kerjaIn interviews, nerves can make you forget to do simple things such as smile and listen, which can result in being thought of as unfriendly or inattentive. You’re more likely to be nervous if you’re inadequately prepared so as well as following our advice above, you should:
• give yourself time to think about what unique qualities you will bring to the job/organisation;
• think of practical examples to demonstrate what you have achieved and draw upon all aspects of your working, educational and social life;
• write notes and take these along to the interview;
• use cues in your notes to highlight examples that you want to draw upon, such as ‘cricket team’, ‘course representative’, ‘sales job’;
• be aware of the structure of the interview. Interviews often begin with topics that are easier to answer because you need less time to think, such as ‘tell us about your studies at university’;
• pause before answering a difficult question in order to give yourself time to think;
• use positive language, as interviewers will be assessing your motivation and enthusiasm;
• ask for clarification if, at first, you’re unsure of what the question means;
• breathe.

Religious Days

St. Patrick’s Day

Below was the information taken from the Internet and Encarta 98 talking about St. Patrick’s Day.

          The person who was to become St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Wales about AD 385. His given name was Maewyn, and he almost didn’t get the job of bishop of Ireland because he lacked the required scholarship.

          Far from being a saint, until he was 16, he considered himself a pagan. At that age, he was sold into slavery by a group of Irish marauders that raided his village. During his captivity, he became closer to God.

          He escaped from slavery after six years and went to Gaul where he studied in the monastery under St. Germain, bishop of Auxerre for a period of twelve years. During his training he became aware that his calling was to convert the pagans to Christianity. (lebih…)

Teaching Vocabulary through Fair Work

A.     Background

As Indonesian _Cominghome (Mudik)

IMG01291-20130801-0640

The phone call came on a Wednesday morning, just as my family was yawning awake to face another busy day. The morning we left Banten, I took a walk as the rest of the world came awake. I watched the sun rise over the way Merak high way and cherished this place, my home — the place that knows my people, my kin, the place that knows from whence I came, the place that has known me and loved me from the beginning. It is so comfortable here. Here I feel so much “at home” … but not quite.

From Pandeglang (Banten) to Tegal (Central Java), this is a holiday many expatriate families will not forget. Surprise people homecomings can begin to look very similar but each one has its own story and emotion. “It’s hard to describe that feeling of being reunited with your family after so long,” says my mother who just returned home as a part of the final wave of expatriates leaving Banten. My grandfather surprised his first daughter and her family, my mother, at his house.

My grandfather was speechless when mom walked through the doors of his house after being apart for over a year. “It’s very difficult to be separated from my grandfather but at the same time I have a lot of pride in what I do and I’m very proud of the men and women who serve,” explains My mother who will be at home for about a few weeks before her job call.
