Parents are the best teachers. In a modern society, people always face the dilemma to choose whether parents or other people are the best teachers. This problem is the much-debated one in that it affects everyone in their daily lives. As far as I am concerned, I think that parents are the best teachers because of their love and lifetime teaching. In the following discussion, I would like to present evidence to support my point of view.

On the one hand, the first argument that can be presented to develop my position is that parents love us whole-heartedly. For example, from time to time, they have to give up their own time, pleasure, and even their dreams in order to fulfill our needs.

Moreover, most parents do not expect their children to thank to their invaluable contributions but rather look forward to a sagacious and happy life for their children to enjoy. In short, there is no better example than this to illustrate the strength of our parents’ teaching.

On the other hand, there is another reason for me to consider that parents teach us constantly. For instance, throughout our lifetime not only do our parents provide us with all living needs but they also are responsible for introducing the world to us. Furthermore, they teach us by what they say and do to tell us how to face with problems to weather difficulties optimistically.

To sum up, given the reasons discussed above, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic hole and thus become persuasive, we may safely come to the conclusion that parents are the best teachers because of their love, devoted, and lifetime teaching. In the end, I will conclude my argument by emphasizing that only by the best teaching of our parents will we can own a sagacious and happy life.

2. Movies are popular all over the world. Explain why movies are so popular. Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, movies have become very popular in our life. In Macao, there is at least one new film hitting cinemas, while television stations often play old films for free. The reason why movies are so popular is as follow.

First, we can learn a lot of things from movies, for example, language, culture, history, etc. In my chatting friend’s French class, her teacher likes to play French movies as one of her teaching material. One of her classmates likes this way and thinks it is interesting and effective to learn foreign language. Besides, apart from learning language, she also lively learnt French culture that is very different from hers. Movie is also a good history teacher.

Second, watching movie can release pressure. Most of us live in a modern and high-tech age. However, it gives us a lot of pressure. Nearly everyday, we face pressure from our job, family, colleagues, etc. Pressure makes us easily nervous and have negative mood. Movie provides us an easy and economic way to release our pressure. Movie can take us away from reality and let us forget the trouble around us temporally.

Third, watching movie has become a symbol of showing romance between people, especially for young couples. As I’ve read in Jakarta Post, I forgot when it was published, in Macao, cinemas are often full in weekends, for many people like to go to cinema as one of their weekend program. Among them, most are young couples. Boys like to invite girls to cinema as an excuse to date them. Cinemas are therefore regarded romantic places for showing love.

In all, from the reason above, we know that movie is such a thing that makes almost everyone likes it. There is no doubt that movies have become popular and inevitable to our life.
