Today, awesome is the right word to describe the condition of world. Sad also words that can be used to understand the world. Those two words were passing through in my mind, when I realized what happen in this century.
21st century, a very complex period to be explained through writing, century in which so many issues of life that bring various phenomena happening around us even in the wider environment which is in the world. Complexity of the issues are being faced, give us new paradigm as human being that the issues will continue to accompany us during the life of this world. Many of the issues always comes up everyday and even every single second, waiting to be given solutions and settlements by all of us as citizens of the world.
Back to two words I have mentioned first. Those words have close relations with the 21st century and to the issues raised. The first ones, why do I say awesome? It is because when the world is viewed at a glance, we will get a tremendous impression. People with all abilities are able to face and resolve some of the problems that arise in different parts of the world, certainly in ways that could be considered admirable. Then the second one is sad, why do I say that? That is because in many complex issues, there are missing parts in solving problems, such as the emergence of other things that are not well anticipated. Conflict is the basis, why I said sad is the right word, since the modern state was essentially born to resolve conflicts, especially interfaith conflicts which each interfaith community tends exclusive, it is difficult to engage in dialogue in a transparent and equal.
In relation to interfaith conflict, then the one that should be the center of attention is the relationship between religion and state. This, in all parts of the world, becomes very important to be used as discussion material in the search for answers to this big following question. What is the relationship between religion and state?
Many Western social scientists interested in examining the relationship between religion and state in South East Asian .Topic of religion in public spaces endlessly studied considering the modernization and Western-style democracy does not necessarily fit when applied in the East because the differences in many sectors such as ideology, government system, tradition in each countries, and sociocultural life.
Southeast Asia is a community that has a strong religious tradition and spirit that put religion into the private sphere, in the West must be difficult to implement. Majority-minority relations religion in the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia always cause political tensions and issues of human rights violations. Each state has a majority-minority relations problem, so the role of religion in the public sphere has always spawned debate and conflict between different faiths.
Conflicts on interfaith’s community, often occur due to friction arising, directly or indirectly impact the incidence of rupture which could be a serious hostility.Figures of the modern state always believed that the state should be able to resolve the interfaith conflicts, but that happened later in the 21st century is much bloody war which in other words can be said to be a war between faith (interfaith wars).
Conflicts escalated into wars can be seen from many parts of the world, one of them is the conflict between Israel and Palestine that has been going on for years, very sad. It becomes very clear, that we as citizens of the world should contribute to help resolve conflicts that occur, in order to create world peace.
Faith and religion, which should be used as guidelines as they contain moral values, but at this time it is believed that faith and religion can not be integrated with the public realm. Consequences arising is the unpreparedness of society to pay attention to the problems that occur in religion, especially the problem of the relationship between religion, which is becoming increasingly vulnerable at this time. It means that we as a society should put religion in a critical position, so it will affect the way we think about interfaith relations, which should be the relationship to be better maintained.
Religion supplies transcendent values and humanist as a reference life of every citizen, and the state has the obligation and mandate to regulate public life. Difference in religion only a part of global diversity which is the difference must not be the root of split but it should be the basis of unity. So that, it becomes important for us to strengthen interfaith relations through a variety of possible ways, including my attempt to contribute in strengthening the relationship through the steps called PURE.
P for Peace, which is basically the main goal, more specifically, is the peace of the world, which is to achieve this will require a commitment from everyone through equalization paradigm that good interfaith relations is the best way to achieve world peace, because without the commitment stronger then it was just a dream that will not be achieved.
U for unity, things that have a lot of differences in the basic, seemingly impossible to be united, but not so with interfaith relations, because the main goal is to achieve world peace then unity is something that is absolutely necessary, so as much as possible we should all avoid disputes in interfaith relations .
R for respectful, sometimes the little things can become big things if addressed incorrectly. Diversity is not something strange but it is something that naturally exists and continues to grow, so diversity should be placed in a clear space, especially the diversity of each religion so that everyone will be aware of and responsible to respect each other, which is the obligation of mutual respect for each other is an important component in strengthening interfaith relations .
E for the efforts. Good interfaith relations will be seen clearly when the following components Peace, Unity, Respectful been reached. These three components will be very vulnerable if there is no sustained efforts in keeping interfaith relations remain harmonious, then efforts should be done in a way that is good and right by all of us as citizens of the world.
PURE is intended to create interfaith relations become better, no more strife, hatred, discord, enmity, taunting, insulting each other and so on.
Through PURE also, i hope that world peace will be created, will be more closely united, the better tolerance, and most important goal is not going to halt efforts to achieve interfaith harmony in life.
Eliminating all of causes that can raise the new problems of interfaith relations is our duty as agent of world peace, breaking problems is also our task in order to make the condition of the world today more comfortable for every interfaith communities. Every single person is fully responsible with the duty as peace keeper and also as citizens of the world.
Finally, I hope the new paradigm regarding interfaith relations will be formed into a better direction for a better world and for a better future.
